Guess how much we raise for Compassion Australia!!
My dear musical kids mums and dads: 1. Guess how much we raise for Compassion Australia's child survival program? All the donations and pre sale tickets after theater expense we had $ 2987 to Compassion Australia and the actual concert day with the extra tickets I round them all up to another $ 1000 and donate it to Red cross Australia for Haiti earthquake. So all together kids, we raise $ 3987!! There are so many less fortunated people will benefit from your talents! yeahhhhh!!! 2. Please check out the link of our 2009 concert photos if you miss it: http://mattgranger.com/abundance2009.html Welcome back. Lovely to have all the kisses and hugs gossip and music again! Love Susie

2009 Music of Love and Abundance 2 Showcase
2009 Music of Love and Abundance Showcase 2 To the wonderful families of my musical babies kids and teenagers: Our end of year concert is taking place on Saturday, 12th December at 2:30-5:00 pm at Star of the Sea theatre, Manly. I still remembered last year little Madeleine told me that the concert day at Mosman community centre was the best day of her life (although she was only 5 or 6 at the time, it was still so wonderful to know that we created a best day of someone’s life!). Last year’s concert we also raised more than 2000 dollars for the Child Survival program and even though 2000 dollars might not be much for us, we really make a lot of difference to a lot of family’s lives in Manado. I have grown up listening to people saying to me constantly “you are so talented…(bla bla bla)”. When I was younger and actively involved in the performing stage, I really thought I was the diva and the whole world worked around me. Many years have gone by and now I think about life and am totally amazed on God’s plan. Exactly what is talent? Talent is not only a God given gift that you are born with. Opportunity creates talent. The kids and we have all the opportunities in the world to cater our talents. We are born in the right country, the good family and the best opportunity. I think God gives me the talent not to just know how to perform or teach, but to have positive influence on the children and take the children to make the world a better place to the best of our ability. That’s why we will be doing the best we can do raise money for Child survival program once again. I personally have been involving with Compassion for many years. Compassion is one of Manly-Manado’s partners in Manado in Indonesia and is a holistic child development organisation. The Child Survival Program (CSP) in Manado aims to reach the most vulnerable of children and prevent premature death, secure good health and enable positive early child development. The program assists pregnant women, at-risk babies and infants and their mothers and caregivers by providing critical interventions such as medical assistance, pre-natal and post-natal care and nutritious food. The CSP in Manado is called the Pengharapan CSP and is located in the community of Ronamut, 5km east of Manado city. The CSP started in May last year and aims to care for up to 50 mothers/caregivers and their young infants. The population of this community is 8,100 and common health problems include malaria and dengue fever. Health problems for children include influenza, skin problems, malnutrition and intestinal parasites. Common social problems include poor access to water, inadequate sanitation and unemployment. For this year’s concert I want to find a theatre for the kids to perform because they also can benefit greatly from a solo performing experience in the theatre. After running high and low in north shore we found the best theatre with the cheapest price (Approx $1500 for the whole 5 hours hiring)!! This year we won’t have the donation stall like last year. The only way to raise money is through ticket sales. Please invite as many friends, relatives and family to come and apart from the hiring cost of the venue, we will have every single ticket sale donating to the child survival program. Attached is a brochure about Compassion’s Child Survival Program. Tickets: Adults $25.00, Children and performers $15.00. The Compassion Child Survival Program costs $24,000 to run annually. For you to help us to achieve this, There is no need for extra donation or sponsor. The theatre has 307 seats and the more people come the more money we can raise and the kids will be more motivated and excited too! Imagine a theatre full of people to see them perform and their talent goes to help so many other children in this world! Christmas is a time of giving and I believe that if we are able to give to those less fortunate then we should. I hope you are all able to support a Fantastic night of Music of Love and Abundance. We need to know numbers as soon as possible so can I encourage you to book your tickets (go wild!) via me on 0405 358 366 or email mosman_music_academy@yahoo.com.au PS:1. It is BYO food and drink and I will liaise with you directly re: what food to bring. 2 The theatre is big with a 3 stories backstage including dressing room, two rehearsal rooms, toilets. To make sure all the kids are safe we will also need lots of parents taking turns to check on the kids at backstage (I am hosting the concert so will be on stage all the time). Don’t worry you won’t miss much, I will write a list so that each supervising parent will only be backstage for a few songs time. Please let me know if you could help us. Susie wants to do everything, to sing ,to play, to teach to choreograph ,to organise ,to host , to save the world…..she needs your help. 3. Also don’t forget the photoshoot for concert poster at 3 pm this Sunday (25th Oct) the dress code is “white”. Chloe’s gorgeous grandma Susie is going to take photos for us at the studio. Whoever can come please just turn up. It will be great fun!!

Happy New year!! We will start the new term on the 5th February.
My dear Parents and students:

I had so many lovely e mails from the parents about last Saturday night's concert thank you!  Just let everyone knows that all together we raise $2020 for Child survival program.
It's the biggest amount Compassion ever raise in one single event and it's going to save so many mothers and babies in Manando. Thank you everyone. I do always believe that whatever you give out to the world it comes back to you in abundance. I don't wish to be the teacher that just teach your children singing piano and dance, I also want to teach them how to give with their talents, how to see every race and age as equal and how to be a good fun and happy person. That's my purpose in life and whoever, whenever I am supposed to be working with, will be. You guys are fabulous.

When I approached Matthew Granger as our photographer, I never expect him to join us in what we are doing. Matthew is such a nice person and is very touched by all of the children and parents. He is now putting all the photos on the website for you to download for free. If you want the print please contact him on his e mail. He will charge a very small fee but will also go into Compassion's child survival program.
Please check out the website. The kids look so awesome.

We will start next term on the 5th February. If you want to keep your time please let me know by the end of January. The morning before school times and early afternoon times are very popular especially for younger kids it will be booked out very quickly.

Have a wonderful Christmas and Happy new year!!

Best regards

Susie

Special lesson for the end of the term
Last few weeks of school, instead of piano or singing,  the kids get to choose either to learn drum, guitar, Gu Zheng or dance.  Most of them got very excited and chose this oriental string instrument that in the old times only princess does it (we call it Koto in Japanese and Gu Zheng in Chinese). The kids looked rather cool playing it. They really learn fast and look so focus!

Best day of her life!!

Finally finished the big showcase last night. It was a real full house. Apart from ticket sales Compassion told me that the donation was flooding in at the end of the show after my little encouraging speech. We had lots of technical drama at the beginning and it all turned out to be an awesome night at the end. The show started from 7:30 pm all the way to 11 pm. And little Madeleine (5 year old) who never stayed up this late. She was on act 1 finale for dance and act 2 finale for singing. She was shouting to us "This is the best night of my life!!" and left in a high. For a one person business, I can never do this without the helps of all the family, friends, older students, lots of parents and the whole compassion team to make this night possible. Hope our effort and money will make more children in Manando to have a better future. I think all of us coming to the world with a unique talent. Maybe mine is to have the ability to cultivate peoples' talents and bring people together for a good cause. My dying patients at Palliative care always tell me, if your living makes difference to the world then you are living a purposeful life. They are my great inspiration and I am trying my best to do so. Thank you everyone for your wonderful help. This is just the beginning.

About Child Survival Program

SUPPORT A COMPASSION CHILD SURVIVAL PROGRAM

As you are all aware, our end of year concert is taking place on Saturday, 6th December at 7.30pm at Mosman Art Gallery and Community Centre (dress rehearsal Sunday 3-5 pm 30th Nov).  I am so excited about the concert as not only do we get a chance to see your children in action but we also get the opportunity to help those less fortunate than ourselves via Compassion and the Manly-Manado community partnership (www.manly-manado.org.au).

I first became aware of the Manly-Manado community partnership last year through three of my students whose families are actively involved in this movement. Compassion is one of Manly-Manado's partners in Manado in Indonesia and is a holistic child development organisation.  I love the work of Compassion and last year started to sponsor a child of my own through Compassion. Now, for the first time, Manly-Manado has the opportunity to support a Child Survival Program (CSP) in Manado.  This program aims to reach the most vulnerable of children and prevent premature death, secure good health and enable positive early child development.

The CSP started in May this year and aims to care for up to 50 mothers/caregivers and their young infants.  The population of this community is 8,100 and common health problems include malaria and dengue fever.  Health problems for children include influenza, skin problems, malnutrition and intestinal parasites.  Common social problems include poor access to water, inadequate sanitation and unemployment.

Attached is a brochure about Compassion's Child Survival Program. The Compassion Child Survival Program costs $24,000 to run annually.  On the night I am hoping we will be able to contribute significantly to the running of the CSP.  This is how you can help:

Tickets: Adults $20.00, Children $15.00 and performers $10.00 .  Can I encourage  you to invite your family, friends and neighbours along.  The venue can fit 200 people so we all need to bring lots of people.   I have venue expenses to cover that will come out of the ticket sales but the remainder will go to the CSP.

Support the CSP directly: please take some time to review the attached brochure.  There is a form in the brochure which enables you to make a one off gift or an ongoing monthly, quarterly or annual donation.  Please bring this along on the night.  I hope you are able to give generously.

Christmas Gift Cards – on the night you can also buy CSP Christmas Gift Cards which you can donate to people – what a wonderful gift !

I have another profession working as a Registered music therapist with people who are at the last stage of their lives. They are either very old or very sick. My patients kept dying but what they told me about life all staying the same—be very grateful, love all you can, live with no regret, give back to the community and live on purpose. The abundance will come. We really are all so lucky and blessed with so much.  It's very heartbreaking to read the statistic that every year 10 million children die before the age of five from preventable causes.  I know this is hard to imagine for all of us, especially our children in Mosman here who are extremely blessed in life. I would like to use a little of our influence to have an opportunity to make a difference to these young infants via the Compassion CSP in Manado.

Christmas is a time of giving and I believe that if we are able to give to those less fortunate then we should.  I hope you are all able to support a Great night of Music of Love and Abundance.

breaking dawn
I am so truly addicted to Twiligh series its not funny. This time I can't wait for my student to bring me the 4th book so I just went and bought it. At first as I read it i thought this is way too adult rated for girls in early teens. Even late teens. But later as the story unfolded you can't help but being amazed on how Stephanie Meyer (the author)'s spectacular imagination. Her way of writing makes the whole thing feel so real. I am using my every single spare minute in the world of vampire and werewolf under her remarkable DSC07817writing.
